I recently visited Red Dog Saloon in Southampton and, let me tell you, it was a game changer for my burger expectations! I went for their peanut butter burger and, honestly, it was a taste revelation. The creamy, nutty flavor of the peanut butter melded perfectly with the juicy burger, creating a combo that’s truly out of this world. Who knew peanut butter on a burger could be so good?
Their menu is quite the feast for the eyes too, especially their sharing platters. Whether you're with friends or family, these platters are a fantastic way to sample a bit of everything.
To cap off a hearty meal, their sticky pudding is a must-try. It's rich, decadent, and just the right kind of sweet—a perfect end to a delightful meal.
And I can't wrap up without mentioning the staff. They were incredibly friendly and attentive, making the whole dining experience even more enjoyable. If you're in the area, don't skip out on Red Dog Saloon. It's a spot that combines great flavors with a fun vibe and stellar service.
I have been looking for an American BBQ restaurant for a while and have previously visited Smith & Western in Chichester (not so great these days), the Red Dog Saloon is absolutely amazing. There are lots of different food options but being our first visit we opted for one of the BBQ platters (minimum of two people) so that we could try a bit of everything. It was hard to pick a favourite item off the platter as everything was just so tasty. We decided not to go for starters or sides as we were warned by friends that the platter is substantial and they were right! They smoke their meats onsite out the front of the restaurant which is a nice touch. The drinks menu is vast with a huge whisky and tequila section, I had a beer which came in a stein glass and my partner had a cocktail both were very good. We will be returning to try other things on the menu and would highly recommend to others.
I recently attended this place for the first time, namely in December. It was very crowded and from what I saw, the members of staff excelled in team work, such as bringing food to people and communicating with the chef to ensure that people got exactly what they wanted. Owing to the amount of people who were present at the restaurant, it is evident that the kitchen staff excel in working hard and being efficient. Furthermore, the members of staff serving food were diligent and took the time to smile at people and greet them politely.
The young woman with two plaits in her hair who took our orders was knowledgeable, polite and had impressive communication skills as she had to interact with a large group of people. From what I saw, it might be prudent to book a table in advance.
Getting access to the bar is a bit of a struggle. The members of staff were patient as they had to navigate their way through the sea of people and everyone did their best not to get in the way.
One has to ask for a knife and fork, which I concede makes sense as many people elect to eat with their hands. The portions are generous and the burgers were nicely cooked. We didn't have to wait for a huge length of time for our food. The menu has a variety of options.
The environment is noisy and one might wait for a bit of time for a table to be vacant.
